Basic editing, checking grammar and word use, and proofreading
This service is designed to assist researchers who are not native-English speakers and are writing in English as a second language. Your manuscript will be checked for correct use of standard American or British English to achieve a level of English that is suitable for review and publication.
Content editing for clarity, consistency, and readability
We provide an overall review of your manuscript to ensure that the content is presented consistently and clearly and expresses your intended meaning. This includes more extensive rewording of key sentences than basic editing as well as comments on, or suggested changes in, the manuscript text, terminology, or title.
In addition to the services provided in content editing, we review and edit tables, figures, and the reference list. Your publication manuscript will be formatted to comply with the author instructions of your target journal.
Cover letter service
When you are ready to submit your publication manuscript, we will send you a first draft for your review. If you have already written a letter, we will review, edit, and proofread it. We also check that it contains all the information the target journal requires.
Response to journal peer review
Send us your draft response letter for review and editing. If you are not sure how to answer a question or respond to a comment, we will draft a suggested response. We can also provide you with references to support your responses.
Target journals for publication of your research
If you have not chosen a target journal for your publication manuscript, or if you need to find a "second choice" after an initial rejection, then we can recommend a new target and a list of alternative journals. The service includes a short bibliography of related studies that have been published in each of the journals.
Abstracts and posters for presentation at meetings
If you will be presenting your research at an upcoming congress or symposium, we can review and edit—or assist you in preparing--your abstract as well as edit your poster or slide presentation.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Medical and scientific documentation
Are you pursuing a specific problem in basic or medical research or have a good idea for a research project, but still have a question that you want answered? We can provide documentation to answer your question including a report on recent publications in that area, highlighting what is known and important gaps in knowledge.
Are you writing a publication manuscript and need references to support your Introduction or Discussion? Are you writing a research protocol and need help describing the rationale? Are there citation gaps in a research grant application that you are writing? If you send us the paragraphs that need support or a list of the key points that you want to make, then we will find some recent references to help you make those points.
